CALGARY - Police searching for the stabber in a serious attack Friday at a northeaest house party believe they have the culprit.
It's actually the man who was covered in blood and claiming he was stabbed - but actually had no wounds, and had help leading officers to believe the offender was somebody else on the loose.
The actual victim, a 45-year-old man, is in hospital, recovering from the butcher-knife wound to his chest, and police said he is no longer in life-threatening condition.
Meanwhile, investigators have shifted attention to the other man, a bloodied 27-year-old found at the party in Falconridge at 9 p.m. Friday.
Paramedics rushed the older fellow to hospital, but at the scene they concluded the younger one hadn't been stabbed. He was instead transferred to a police station, and police said he'll be charged with aggravated assault, assault with a weapon, and potentially attempted murder.
Meanwhile, two women at the party may face obstruction charges, police said. They had falsely told authorities the stabber was a third person who had fled out the back door.
